I'm building gutNinja, an app for the low-FODMAP diet.

I'm Io, founder and developer based in Innsbruck. gutNinja helps people with sensitive guts get through the low-FODMAP diet: it keeps track of what they eat, what they tolerate, and what to try next, so nobody needs a spreadsheet and a nutrition textbook on the kitchen counter.

Before this I did a master's at MCI Innsbruck (thesis on retrieval-augmented chatbots that run entirely on a company's own hardware), a computer science degree at the University of Innsbruck, and a semester at UCLA. I also spent time on reinforcement learning research for building control.

Work

gutNinja

A FODMAP app: food diary, symptom tracking, and guidance through the elimination and reintroduction phases of the low-FODMAP diet. Currently in development.

Founder, current

Electronic.Inc Assistant

An on-premise assistant that answers questions over a company's internal documents and databases: SQL queries, small data analyses, web search fallback, role-based permissions. Built to run on modest local hardware; piloted with an industry customer.

Python, LangGraph, FAISS, Ollama

RL lighting optimizer

A reinforcement learning agent that controls blinds and artificial lighting to balance energy consumption against visual comfort, trained against surrogate models instead of full EnergyPlus simulations.

Python, EnergyPlus, Radiance, BCVTB

Borealis surrogate models

Time-series models (Mamba, LSTM) that predict illuminance and energy consumption fast enough for multi-objective optimization loops such as NSGA-II, simulated annealing, and genetic algorithms.

Python, Pymoo, Optuna

Tempera

An energy-efficient desk device for time tracking and workplace climate monitoring, with a web backend for the accumulated data. University group project; I worked mostly on the backend.

Java, Spring Boot, Angular
